Company Profile
Steve Waters is the Managing Director of Root + Rodent Solutions Group, which now incorporates: Root Solutions Ltd, Piper Pest Control Ltd, Mole Control & Maintenance Man. Having served his apprenticeship in Yorkshire, Steve spent 2 years with the Economic Forestry Group and gained an HND in Horticulture. Steve returned to Harrogate in 1979 to set up his own business in grounds maintenance, and later diversified into Pest Control.
After 14 years of successfully growing his business, Steve decided to transfer his entrepreneurial skills to the corporate arena, and joined Imperial Services Group Ltd in 1993, taking with him his workforce and client base. By the time this company was acquired by Executive Group Ltd in 1998, Steve had been promoted to Divisional Director. Steve’s success in gaining and retaining satisfied Landscaping, Pest Control and Cleaning clients resulted in him becoming Managing Director (Core Business) Countrywide, responsible for over 4000 employees and a turnover of approximately £25m.
Steve’s natural aptitude for growing a business, and his preference for closer relationships with the client base, led him to leave the boardroom environment, and return to running his own business, based in Chester, Heswall and Harrogate.
In October 2003 he set up Root + Rodent Solutions Ltd and acquired Piper & Co Pest Control Ltd. By 2007 the grounds maintenance business was thriving and led to opportunities for further growth, through the acquisition of 2 Wirral based companies, PC Gardening and Oliver’s Garden Design. Later in 2007 2 further opportunities presented themselves. Root + Rodent Solutions Ltd specialised in the external grounds maintenance, including the control of pests such as moles, rabbits and pigeons and in October 2007 the group acquired MOLE CONTROL, based in North and East Yorkshire, to expand its operation in that region. At the same time, having already undertaken project management of building work through Root + Rodent Solutions Ltd, a natural extension of the portfolio of services, led to the acquisition of Wirral based MAINTAINENCE MAN.
